In the "Meatrix", the maker shows us that how factory farming affect our life today. The family farms are less and less now. Most of them are detroyed and created to factory farming, because the company want to make more profit.
The maker use this idea from the movie "The Matrix", because they spread similar imformation to viewers. Both of them are the message movie. They want to show us how the world becomes today when people begin to rely on technology too much. Both of their changes are negative. In the "Matrix", people are controller by "The Matrix" and live in a unreal world. Blog Entry 13: The Response to "The Matrix" (Rewrite)
"The Matrix" is a message movie which states that human beings become slavers of technology, because they rely on them very much. In the movie, there is a scene interests me. It is about Mophius asked Neo to make a choice between taking red pill or blue pill. If he takes red pill, he will see the real world. If he takes blue pill, he will retain in the current existence. Finally, he takes the red one. If I were Neo, I would have made a same choice as him; because I want to know the truth and do not want to have a fictional life under a lie.
In the movie, it describes that in the end of 20th century most people are controlled by a computer program which is called "The Matrix". They do not know that they are slavers of "The Matrix". They live in an unreal world which is created by "The Matrix". However, there is a group of people who know the truth. They try to save the world. In the group, there is a man called Mophius. He is the only person who knows the code which can help people. He uses his entire life to look for "the one" who will join him and help people out of "The Matrix". When Neo comes out, he is the one who is looked for by Mophius. Moreover, Neo passes many tests and becomes a real hero who really can save the world.
I already mentioned above in my first paragraph. If I were Neo, I would have taken the red pill and went to see "how far the rabbit hole goes".
I will take the red pill, because I want to face the truth even though it may hurt me or make me mad. Like Neo, even though he could not accept the truth firstly when he saw the real world. He did not regret what he chose. At least, he knows the truth and makes the choice by himself. It also reminds me of an experience which is about my best friend lied to me.
I remember that it happened at when I was in high school. I fell in love with a boy who was not single, but I did not know before. He lied to me that he did not have a girl friend. And I believed him. My best friend knew the truth earlier, but she did not tell me either, and even she lied to me. She said that she did it, because she wanted to protect me from the sadness. She might be right, but I think that she did not consider what I really want. If I had a choice to choose at that time, like Neo, I would like her to tell me the truth. Even though I would be sad and could not accept it firstly, I did not regret that what I did.
In addition, I choose red one; because I do not want to have a fictional life and lived in a unreal world. For example, my best friend which I mentioned above. She said that she wanted me happy so that she told a lie. However, I do not think I will happy if I was lied by my friend. It really hurts my feeling. It made me did not believe my friends easily at a period of time. If she told me the truth, maybe I would still have been sad; but at least I could learn to how to fix the problwm by myself. That is also why I choose the red one.
Overall, I will prefer the red one as same as Neo; because we both want to know the truth and do not want to have a fictional life. The truth may hurt us, but both of us learn something from what we experieced and macture after.

Blog Entry 12: Reflection and Evaluation
Today is the first day to come back to school after spring break. After I wrote 11 pieces of essay, I reviewed my essays from 1 to 11. I found that my writting is better than before. I am not nevous anymore when I take the exam. My thoughts is clear, and I can move ahead when I write my paper essays.
I know that it needs a long time for me to improve my writing skill, because English is my second lanuage. I cannot success in a short time. And sometimes I will be too worried about the result of the exam, so there was a period of time that I stoped in a spot so that I cannot move on. In that time I was so sad, but my professor helped me a lot. Now I am be better than before. Throught out my essay, I divide it into three parts to say here. They are the beginning, the body and the ending.
In the beginning of my essay, it is introduction. It is about a short claim which I understand from an assignment. It is hard for me to find the claim of the author, because there are many words in the assignment that I do not know. Therefore, it usually takes me a long time to read an assignment and understand what it say at all. This is I need to improve in my writing.
In the second paragraph of my essay is usually the summary of the assignment. It also belongs to my beginning of my essay. Sometime I did well in this part, but sometimes not. It means that I need to pratice. In the end of this paragraph, I often show my claim to the assignment. And the last sentence I will write a connection to next paragraph.
In the body, I usually wrote my experience directly before. I did not know I need to write a central sentence first in my first sentence. I often skipped this parts, and I did not give the points to explain why I had this claim. Now I know that I need to give at least two points to explain my claim.
In addition, I did not use my personal experience in my essay before. And my tone of my essay, I did not use the first person "I" to write my essay. Now I also know that it is better to use my personal expriences in my exampl and to be a first person to write my opinion.
Furthermore, sometimes I did not connect well between my experience and my claim. It makes me cannot move ahead. And I often fogort to add an connection of the author's claim.
In the end of my essay, I think I did well in this part, because I often went back to the author's claim. I need to be careful that I cannot add an new experience and claim here.

Claim : If I have a chance likes Neo choose to the red pill or blue pill in the movie "The Matrix", I would like to choose the red one, because I want to know what is the truth.
Reason: I would like to take the red one, because I want to see the reality even though maybe I will get hurt or cannot accept it. It is better than living under an illusion forever. In the human beings nature, we cannot ensure that everything we heard, saw or believed in the past is true and good. But whether it is true or false, the truth only will been proved and seen in the future with an effort by using the world of knowledge. This is what I learn from the Scorates' claim in the "Allegory of the Cave" republiced by Plato.
In the "Allegory of the Cave", Scorates describe a story of a group of prisoners who have been kept in chains and forced to live in a underground den since their childhood. The group of prisoners never come out of the cave during their life time. They do not know the reality of the outside of the world. The only thing they believe that it is true is what they see on the wall in front of them everyday. After one of them is released from the den, he goes out and first time to see the real world. He finds out what he saw and believed before is false. Moreover, he returns to the cave and tries to explained the truth to his friends, but nobpdy understand what he says and even recognize his sound. Scorates tried to use this story to make us enlighten the view of the prisoners. Comparing to the experience of the prisoners, I have a special experience which is similar to it.
There was a previous time that I believed that if I was not a virgin girl, I could not have a husband who will love me very much in my life. It is a special experience which makes me mature and discover a truth that not anything that our parents tell us is true.
In China, most old Chinese people think that women must be virgin before their marriage. And also, Chinese men like to marry with the virgin women. My parents are one of them who still have this kind of out of fashion thought. When I was a teenager, my parents often warn me that I must be virgin before my marriage. They did not allow me to have a relationship with men, because they scared me that I would not have a happy marriage if I slept with a man before my marriage age. And also, because of their everyday warning I really believed what they said was real. However, until one day I did a opposite thing which is not my parents' expectation. My life and my thought is changed. We never know what will happen or what will not happen in future. And also, I did not know that I would disobey my parents' rule. I fell in love with a man and slept with him. Sometimes is hard to stop doing something when the love is coming. The love blinded my heart so that I disobeyed the rule. At that time, I really scared the nightmare would be true one day as what my parents told me. Until I met my fiance, I knew what my parents told me was wrong. I also found out what I believed before was an illusion. My fiance told me that he did not care about if I was virgin or not. He really cares about it is my personality and me.
Conclusion, if I did not expericed this matter, I would never know the truth. Sometimes what we saw, heard or believed maybe not real. Like me and even the prisoner in "The Allegory of the Cave", we both experienced similar matters and just looked at the appearance of the objects, and then we believed that they were true. The Blog Entry 9: Telecommute Report-out
After I did the discussion about the movie "The Matrix" in the telecommunication, I knowed more what the movie talking about and learned more information. The questions in the telecommunication widen my imagination to the movie. And also, the opinions of the classmates which they gave in the answers of the questions provied me more reference to the movie.
In the discussion of the "The Matrix", I can give any opinion about the movie. From my opinion, it includes that waht I understand from the movie and what I think about the movie. It is helpful for me to write a reponse to the movie, because it makes me to consider every details from the movie, and then comes out many ideas about "The Matrix". I also can use one of these ideas to be my claim to write into my response paper.
Following the steps of the movie, I really will have similar feeling as Neo. In the movie, Neo decides to seach what the matrix is and consider what the real world is, but it is a long way to find the truth and prove it. It also makes me think about what the reality is in the world and consider that something that I believe before whether true or not. After he see the real world, he cannot accept the truth immediately. No one can accept the truth easily if we have the same experience as Neo. It is hard to believe that the world we are living in fact is not real. However, who knows the world that Mophius said is real or not. I think that no matter what Mophius said or Neo thought, the truth is what we really believe and which ways we decide to go in our life. Like choosing the red pill or blue pill, taking red pill we will see what the reality is or taking the opposite one we will return to the prior world. But whatever we choose, we should not regret what we do, because we already choose what we believe.
The problem is Mophius said that nowadays the human beings were in the chain of the Matrix, and they did not have freedom, but did he also have freedom? I think that Mophius is a salvor of his mind which he consider that saving a world is his duty in his whole life. He prefers to give up his entire life to look for a unkown future rather than have a relax life. He is a fanatic on saving the world.

Blog Entry 8: The Respond to "The Truman Show"
"The Truman Show" is a movie about a person who called Truman. He lives in a false world which is created by a show director Cristoff. Truman's daily life has been played on the TV since he was borned, but he does not know the lie. Evrything around him is not real, include his parents, his wife and his friends. Everybody around him pretends to be so nice to him in order to hold him in this unreal world. For the show, he is a product which is used by a company to make profit. For the audiences, he is a hero who tries his best to escape the false world after he knew the truth. In the end of the movie, the show director Cristoff tells Truman that he creates what he considers a "perfect world" for him to live "happy everyday". He did it because he wants to protect him from the complex sociaty outside.
Maybe Cristoff really wants to protect Truman and wants him to grow up in a happy world, but I think that it is not a good method to protect a person by using a big lie. We maybe can lie to a person at a period of time, but it is impossible to lie to a person during his whole life. There must be one day that he will know the truth. If he found out his whole life was a lie, he would be upset and do not believe the people who are around him. I remember there is one scene in the movie, they used his father's death to lie to him. If he did not meet his father again, he never knew the truth. Nobody would like to live in a lie and use his whole life to exchange this kind of "happy after". Especially this lie concerned his father's death, it is terrible for Cristoff to use Truman's enmotion of his father to lie to him. And also, it reminds me of an exprience that my best friend lie to me. At that time, she said she wanted to protect me so that she lied to me. She did not tell me the truth is my ex-boyfriend already had another girlfriend when he and I was still in a relationship. I could understand she just wanted to protect me and cared my feels, but the problem was she really hurt my feeling because I really believed her. She thought that I would be happy to live under a "beautiful lie" that she consider it was, but she never considered what I really want. I just want to face the truth even though it will hurt me. It is better than escape the sadness which comes from the truth. I also will mature after this exprience. I will learn from what I exprience, no matter it is bad or good.
In conclusion, I think Truman has the same thought as me, it is also why he prefers to escape this "perfect world". He prefers to go out and live in a complex sociaty which maybe hidden many dangers. Blog Entry 5: the summary of "The Allegory of the Cave"
In the "Allegory of the Cave", Socrates described a story concerns the prisoners who were kept in chains and forced to live in the underground cave since their childhood. The prisoners became to believe the shadows on the wall which they only could watch in their lifetime is real, because they never saw the reality outside of the world. After one of them was released from the cave, he found out what he believed before was false. Moreover, he returned to the cave and tried to explain what he saw to his partners, but they could not recognize their friends. Blog Entry 4: Hype workshop
In "hype", Kalle Lasn shows us that the increasing advertising nowadays, especially the commercial advertisements, as a mental pollution has already invaded our life. There is no place to run. Before there may be a place that our eyes can get a rest, but now it is full of different advertisements. When we go shopping, drive to work; take the trains, or watching the TV show at home, no matter where we are; we will see the advertisements even though we do not want to see. Maybe we will feel bored and tired to see them, as Kalle Lasn wrote, "we haven't quite woken up to the absurdity of the advertisements all". However, we cannot deny the development of advertisement also gives us many benefits in our life.
In present day, the increasing advertising really gives us a convenient way when we go shopping. Each company produces many kinds of advertisements in order to attract the customers to buy their products. In the most advertisements, they have much information about the product that they want to sell and where we can buy their goods. It is also convenient for us because we do not need to spend more time to look for the location and what the products are. For example, when we go shopping in the 42th street in the Manhattan, there are many advertisements display on the big TV screen above every company's building wall. Every company provides the newest, fashion information about their products in the advertisements. They use their own different advertisements as their identities so that people can easy to find out their location and buy what they want to buy. Even though the author said the increasing advertising likes “toxic of the mental pollution” which bothers our life, it is really convenient for us to go shopping, and even in the crowded 42th street.
In addition, more advertisements appear can give us more information to compare the products what we want to buy. When we buy something, most us used to searching the information of the same product but from different companies. We will get the information from the advertisement, and then compare their qualities and prices. And then, find out the better and cheaper one. For example, many people like to go shopping on the special date, like the Black Friday. Most us will look for the cheaper and better product to buy from the advertisements, no matter the on-line shopping or outside shopping. Like buying a laptop on-line, we like to search the advertisements from the famous store like Best Buy, J&R and so on. After searching the information, we can compare the same product but be sold in different stores to get the better and cheaper one.
In conclusion, even though the development of the advertisement really has broken the silent moments of our life and bother us sometimes, we cannot deny "the most powerful micromarketing medium available today" as Kalle Lasn wrote in "hype".

Blog 1: The respond to "hype"
In "hype", Kalle Lasn shows us that the increased advertisements, especially the commercial advertisements, as a mental pollution has already invaded our life. There is no place to run. Before there may be a place that our eyes can get a rest, but now it is fulled of different advertisements. When we go shopping in the mall, drive to work or home, take the train, or sit down in front of the computer at home, no matter where we are, we will see the advertiments even though we do not want to see. Maybe we will feel bored and tired to see them, as Kalle Lasn wrote, "we haven't quite woken up to the absurdity of the advertisements all". However, we cannot deny the development of advertisement also gives us many benifits in our life.
More and more advertisements come out is convenient for us to look for the productsthat we want. They provide many kinds of advertiments that we do not need to spend more time to consider where we can buy and what the products are. In the most advertisements, they have many information about the product that they want to sell. For example, when we go shopping in the 42th street in the Manhattan, there are many advertisements display on the big TV screen above every company's building wall. Every company provides the newest, fashionest information about their products in the advertisements. They use their own different advertisements as their identities so that people can easy to find out their location and which products they sell. It is convenient for us to go shopping in the crowded 42th street.

Blog 2:Reflection on Annotating
A.
Annotating with the class, we can share the imformation from each other, and also, we can discuss the topic and look for the main idea each other, but i am not familliar to do the annotation with the class. This is my first time to do it, it makes me a little confused.
B.
Writting the annotations for "Is google making us stupid" with my partner makes me quickly to find out and understand many informations that the writter provided, but it was hard for us to figure out which one is the main idea, because different person has different view. In the end, we did not summarize the main idea.
C.
After annotating the reading, I learned about when we depend on our computers and our cellphones to use google to do the research, we will be lazy to think deeply and learn less.
D.
Yes, annotating will make me to become a better writer, but i need some time to be familiar with using it.
